I was talking to one resident the other day, i was lamenting to him, how frustrating it is to be in as a committee in a Manangement Corporation (MC in short), telling him that we were in not for any personal interest.(except one fellow though)neither were we looking for any recognition, we went in simply we wanted to contribute to make the place we are living in a better place to call home.
Sadly, there are certain quarters who are so adamant in sometimes taking things personally, i for once was accused of being a bigot, simply because i opposed the building of a shrine inside the common area. The issue was then settled, but recently the same quarter is again up to the same issue, and i am kind of saddened by the decision of entertaining the request again but this time around, i am smart, i totally do not want to have anything to do with it ever again, it is not worthwile at all.
I have my respect and i personally hold high esteem of our MC's chairman Mr Goh, he is tenacious in carrying out his voluntary works, and i really hope residents can give him the greatest support and co-operation but i am sure he will get pissed off, tired and redundant one day, if the support he get is an uphill task.
I like the way the resident that i was talking to, telling me how he wished that the whole area would become a rot, deplorable and turned into a slump, then and only by then it could shaken up the selfishness in those residents who are only out for their own interest.
As for me, i could not care if there are shrines here and there in the common area and i am rather pissed off by now.

What if he were to be your child...............
It was the most unbecoming and distasteful coming from one of our residents, who would do,to me a "barbaric" act in charging into the guard house and gave the guard on duty a slap on the face, who was only dutifully carrying out his duties.
Just because your selfish interest and your selfish convenience is being curtailed, it doesnt give you any right to slap a person who is only doing what he is paid to, just think about it for a moment, what if that said guard were to be own child, what whould you would do if you were to be the parent of this guard who was slapped by a selfish resident.?
I guess when that resident calling out to the guard. " bodoh punya guard " to me the humiliation is only aptly applied to the one who is doing the calling, when i learnt about this unwarranted event, i really felt like spitting on the face of this so called resident, but then again he or she doesnt deserve my saliva.
I must agree, most of us are selfish, that's only human nature, but when our selfish nature drives us to inflict hurt, humiliation, contempt and direspect to others, then i think we will be at the lowest of human caste.
Let us have some feeling for those who we regard as lower standard than us, just because they earn less than us, just because they are the guards, or may be just because they have to be awake when we are all sleeping, please keep in mind that we are all human, God's has never made us different.

Fire Fire and the Residents are fast asleep
A red dot in the history of Taman Lone Pine. Can you imagine a tenant renting a unit on the fifth floor of Block 1, was boiling water and went back to sleep. Thank God, someone saw smoke and thank God we had a brave security guard who climbed over the railings, broke the glass and woke up the sleeping residents. I could think of worst to happen. Total fire break out, gas explosion, total electrical failure, lift failure, panic and pandemonium at Taman Lone Pine.
Once again who were around? Not superman, not spiderman nor batman, its teh unpaid, pro bono volunteers of the Perbadanan Pengurusan Taman Lone Pine Chairman, Vice chairman and several committee members.
You want to know what is the greatest joke or absurdity was? While our hero security guard came to rescue the 5th floor resident, the fire brigade came and guess what - our other security guard from Guardian Security Services decided to play truant as usual. The fire engine could not come in. Currently we have a 25-50% effectiveness level in terms of security services from the present company. We hope to meet and put into place some commitment and measures to ensure value for money equity is put into place. We hope to have our wheel clamps up soon after the EGM and hopefully Guardian will stop "cheating" us or we have to ship them out and find some other company whoa re sincere in providing real services.
Back to the fire issue, we have to start our resident education campaign and set up our own Emergency Response Team or we stand to have an extra insurance loading of 10% and worst, we might get into bigger trouble if another fire happens again. (Choi, Tai ke lai si - Touch Wood - God Forbid)
Anyway it is about time that our selfish residents with all their garbage blocking the aisle and the selfish Developer of Taman Lone Pine office start rethinking how their chains, bars and cars can pose a danger on where it is supposed to be exit zone for emergency.
Enough said. I am going to sleep early.

Lantern Festival 3rd October 2009
All's well that ends well. It started out as a small scale event but it ended up as a bigger event. It rained but it did not dampen the spirit of all the team members. Everyone chipped in from the start to the end. The team had originally arrange everything inside the commnity hall and later moved it to the field and when it stater to drizzle, team work came into play and a neigbour helped out with his pick up truck and took most of the load. We had our very own 3 wheels vehicle ferry most of the items like the PA system, the table and chairs while the rest of us carreid the food inside once again. Food was the main item only surpassed by par excellent entertainment from the Taichi and dance presentations and dance along sessions. We had mini competitions, youngest to the oldest, tallest to the broadest, chopstick peanuts competition, guess the sweets in the jar contest etc. Everyone had fun and food. There were fantastics singers and dancers providing live entertainment too. The children lit up their lanterns and soon they were the mainattraction in the night. Taman Lone Pine came alive with tardition and harmony. The police were also here to join in the merry making. Wow what a successful nite. My hats off to the organizing committe and our very great suppporter from the Taici and Dance group. The best part was food was aplenty and we had to coax our previous supporters, the Break Dance kids to come help us finish the food and we had lots more to pack home. The beauty of it everyone helped to clean up nd restore the community hall back to its original arrangement and cleanliness. Here is to Community Living. Our next event on the cards might be New Year 2010 Celebrations.

Inconsiderate Neighbors or Guards Not Working
All of us who live in this world of flats, apartments and Condominiums have a few things in common. Among them are inconsiderate neighbors or guards who put on a show (wayang kulit). Today at

Do All Guards Sleep in the Daytime too?
It was 3.50pm when I was walking to the community hall, the moment I reached there I could see one of the guards slumped over the table. I walked back down toward the guardhouse and the supervisor in charge tried to wake the sleeping guard up. He woke up and went back to sleep again. I asked him if he is supposed to be asleep while on duty. The supervisor replied that the guard was sick and he tried to call his headquarters to get a replacement but could not get through to anyone at all. At 4.30pm suddenly there was no guards at all in the guardhouse. I quickly called our vice chairman who immediately contacted the headquarters supervisor. The HQ supervisor arrived half an hour later complaining to us he does not know what to do as he had so many problems with his guards coverage. I told him, sorry, not our problem, we have an agreement and we expect service and responsibilities for good money paid. The HQ supervisor then had no choice but to become the guard on duty until replacement guards arrived two and a half hours later.
Can you imagine how the life of committee members are like? The other day a resident was complaining so much to our vice chairman and when we invited him to come over and help us by joining the PPTLP committee, he sang a different tune, I am busy, I have no time, I have other commitments etc. It is easy to criticize when you are not doing much. When you are doing, you will realize that you do not have much time to talk a lot.
I asked the complaining resident, what he would think happen if we all gave up and let things rot. Let the government take over because no one in the Taman Lone Pine cares. He immediately agreed that this was not a good option. I rest my case.

Do All Guards Sleep At Night
When we hired the new Security Guard company we thought things would change for the better. I am sadly disappointed. The PPTLP Team put in so much effort and so many chances and warnings were given and yet the Security company still gives us rotten guards every once so often. I can imagine how the residents might be thinking. It is not easy doing Pro Bono work that does not reward you but brings you more distress but if we do not do who will and I know things will definely get worse if let unchecked. So we must not give up ever until ...
